Planned inspection checks can include
- Door leaf, frame and surrounding condition
- Visible damage, distortion or unauthorised alterations
- Door gaps against the applicable inspection criteria
- Intumescent strips and smoke seals where present
- Hinges, fixings and other ironmongery
- Self-closing device operation and whether the door closes correctly
- Locks, latches and relevant door hardware
- Glazing and glazing systems where fitted
- Fire door signage where required
- Evidence of doors being wedged or prevented from closing
- Photographs and recorded observations
Clear records for the responsible person
Each inspection will be designed to identify the door, record the condition found and make any action-required items easy to understand. Where included, records can contain door location or asset reference, photographs, findings, inspection outcome and recommended next steps.
If a defect needs specialist repair, replacement, further assessment or confirmation against original fire performance evidence, that will be highlighted rather than treated as automatically resolved by the inspection.

The service is being developed for schools and education sites, care settings, offices, hospitality, landlords, managing agents, commercial buildings and other organisations responsible for maintaining fire doors.
Inspection frequency
The appropriate inspection programme depends on the building, fire risk assessment, door type, use and applicable legal or site requirements. Certain multi-occupied residential buildings in England have specific routine fire-door checking duties, while other premises should manage fire doors as part of their wider fire-safety maintenance arrangements.

Is Fire Door Inspection available now?
Not yet. Fire Door Inspections are coming soon from HPM Compliance. You can register your interest now and we can note the type and approximate number of doors you expect to need inspected.
What will you check?
The planned inspection can cover the door leaf and frame, visible damage, gaps, strips and seals where present, hinges, closer, locks and latches, glazing, signage, alterations and whether the door closes correctly.
Will you certify newly installed fire doors?
No. This service will not cover the initial inspection and sign-off of newly installed fire doors.
Will repairs be included?
No. Inspection and reporting will not automatically include repair or installation work. Any defects requiring remedial work will be recorded for the responsible person to act on.
Can you inspect multiple sites?
Yes, once launched. The service can be organised by site and door reference for customers managing multiple properties or recurring inspection programmes.
